SHOP DROP: FRINGE HOODIE

SHOP DROP: FRINGE HOODIE

Soft pink, with hand-cut fleece fringe, welcome the newest lovely to the shop! Especially in Winter, I sink into the pattern of: LONG GIANT BULKY SWEATERS over everything. This year, I'm trying to add shorter lengths of layering options to keep things from getting stale.  It meets the waistband of my high-rise denim, with no peek of skin; and creates a great silhouette. It's lightweight like a favorite t-shirt (It's literally made out of the same tri-blend fabric of my favorite t-shirt) but the long sleeves make it cold-weather appropriate! I'm wearing a small in these pictures. Boxy and short, I could see...

SHOP DROP: BELTED SCARF

Clocking in at 8.5 feet, you can wear this heavyweight fleece scarf with or without the striped elastic belt (customizable to your measurements when you purchase).  It's ultra-flattering, because it's anchored at your smallest circumference. Somehow familiar in it's retro vibes and yet also, refreshing and new.  Over a sweater dress or jeans and tunic, this exaggerated scarf is statement piece.  Over your wool coat, or down puffer, you can transform your winter layers. And trimmed in just the right amount of fur. Wearable and washable! Find her here and please share this post so we can spread the cozy! XX Mrs. Emily

SHOP DROP: POPCORN CROPPED SWEATSHIRT

All green in the Midwest is melting away as colder temperatures creep in. It's comforting to grab my cozy layers as a way of welcoming rest after a busy season.  I love how fashion can celebrate the way you're feeling and give you a way to outwardly express some inward intangible state of the heart. Meet The Popcorn Sweatshirt. I designed her as a piece to revive old staples. If you love tunics over leggings but hate all your old tunics, layer this sweatshirt on top for an instant wardrobe refresh. If you love a great pencil skirt, add this sweatshirt over...

Audrey Cochran Takes Legit Photos And I Realize How Many Of My Dreams Have Come True

Ah Friends! After several months of making skirts, I finally have some pictures! These shots make me feel alllll of the feels. It has been such a journey getting skirts back in the shop at mrsemily.com (I used to sell clothes on the dot com several year ago). To see these photos, it's the feeling of coming full circle.  And then there's something else. To read Audrey's words... she has written about my business the things I try and convey. Which means somehow I'm communicating my "why". And that, after a couple of years of refining my vision, is an...

Mama's First Podcast

Mama's First Podcast

My friend and fellow fashionista (see her there modeling one of my caps?) asked if she could interview me for her podcast. It was such a cool process and the result is a pretty comprehensive overview of my fashion journey the last 15+ years: starting with painting Goodwill prom dresses; winning my internship in NYC; interviewing with Project Runway; becoming a mama; and coming back home to Illinois with a clear vision for my business.    The interview took place the week after my first home show, and the addition of handmade skirts back to the collection. You can hear in...
