Wear what you have. Get comfortable. Come say hi.

I'm here with some things I need to say - and haven't gotten around to.

Yes, there are new, delicious skirts. But some of you already have delicious skirts that need to be transitioned into colder weather, or simply dusted off while we figure out how to wear them again.

Enter: Consignment Styling Appointments.

60 minutes for $60, with $30 of that applied to a future purchase.

It's you, me, and the racks.

You'll learn things about fibers. You'll watch how and why I'm choosing what I choose. You'll start to understand what you like and don't like - and, more importantly, you'll learn how to recognize those things on your own the next time you're shopping.

You won't spend much money. But you will find quality pieces that help you dress, and you'll leave with a better sense of how to put things together.

Bring your skirts with you, and sign up for an appointment here.

Second, I want to speak to the women who have been loving looser layers, oversized slouchy vibes, and/or simply don't love a cinched-waist silhouette - for comfort or stylistic reasons.

My giant iPhone is officially too heavy for the elastic of my skirt to hold up, unless I want said elastic to be tourniquet-level tight.

So I've switched my approach and started sizing up in my skirts.

Ohhhh, the comfort of an elastic waist that barely brushes your skin.

The natural waist - where we bend, between the pelvis and ribcage - is a functionally great place to put a waistline. It gives the skirt a good place to anchor so we can bend and move comfortably. But aesthetically? That waistline doesn't have to be emphasized or even seen. It doesn't have to be tight. It can simply be doing its job underneath all the volume and layers.

Look at how I've styled my newest skirts: sizing up in jackets and fleecy layers, and letting them add volume, drama, and coziness.

It's not messy. It's not sloppy. And I'm not disappearing in the clothes.

The skirt is still anchored at my high natural waist, so I can bend and move. But oh, how lusciously comfortable.

Please take advantage of the free shipping and returns - and the fact that you can talk to the pattern maker herself.

It takes time to find something that really fits. But I think that time can be part of what makes a purchase special.

Pick out a skirt. Measure your high natural waist, choose your size, ask me questions. And when your skirt arrives, let's talk about how it's fitting and how you're feeling in it.

So, in conclusion:

Wear what you already bought. Let me help you wear it more - and better.

Add some oversized layers. Start rethinking proportion as you shop for new pieces, or as you restyle what you already have.

Make an appointment to visit the salon, and let's play.

Or say hi as you're thinking toward your next purchase.

Let's make getting dressed - and buying clothes - a little more personal.

XO,
Emily
