Silk Scarf Care Tips
My silk scarves are labeled as dry clean recommended, but silk itself is washable—it's dye transfer that can be an issue.
Researching, experimenting, and learning to care for these silk scarves has been a rewarding experience. It’s reminded me how embracing the lost art of laundering clothing can elevate the enjoyment and appreciation of our wardrobes.
After experimenting with various washing and drying methods, I’ve shared my favorites in these videos. Please note that I can’t guarantee there won’t be dye transfer, so hand wash at your own discretion.
- Gently swirl the scarf in a bowl of cold water with a small amount of soap.
- Roll it up in a clean towel to remove excess moisture.
- Lay it flat on a drying rack in a single layer, avoiding overlaps to prevent color bleeding.
- Finish by pressing with a steamy iron, or enjoy the soft texture of line-dried silk.
