March's Skirt: The Erica
With a couple of trips on the horizon, I designed a skirt for the occasion.
When Erica styled hers with my tote, tee and cap; I saw her in Paris, and I saw her in Champaign, IL too (where I live).
This length is Midi + 6". At 5', it fits Erica like a maxi. At 5'10", it hits above my ankles.
The handmade cotton, is block printed in India with natural dyes.
Enjoy the variation of the print, with each color layered individually, by hand. And enjoy the personality of Indian Indigo Dye as it lightens with washing - I've heard it described as aging like leather, rather than fading.
Simple Sizing
Your waist circumference is the name of your size (38” waist circumference is a size 38). Only 1 measurement is needed to find your skirt. And you can move up and down sizes in 2" increments to perfect your fit. Sizes over 32" run large in this skirt, so order down a size.
What a Quick Month!
I make each skirt in my home studio, using my original patterns.
This is my 6th month doing a monthly skirt. (The last 3 years, I've been making custom skirts one at a time.)
I'm learning to batch sew, and getting familiar with my new production schedule. I have another set of hands in the studio, too (EEE!). Erica helped this month: trace and cut patterns, press fabric, tunnel elastic into skirts, press the finished skirts, and style and model product for photos.
That's why this month's skirt is named "The Erica".
Personal Update
It's been a wild month. Almost in disbelief, I see things falling into place:
* manufacturing in India
* preparing to teach at our community college
* pursuing mentorship as I take next steps with the biz
* finding Erica
* another monthly skirt drop
Thank you for being here!
XO
