Behind the Scenes: Belt Bag

I've been working with a fair trade factory in Bangladesh to produce a belt bag. Did you know that Bangladeshi leather is some of the best there is? Their biggest exporter is Italy, so if you've owned 'Italian leather', then it may have originated in Bangladesh.

I received these photos yesterday of the first sample, and I gasped out loud.

See the paper prototype on the dress form back there? With the big "bow" belt?

I will be making the belts out of different fabrics, and I have big, glorious plans for them. I want to offer multiple belt colors and styles, so that you can buy the leather bag, and keep changing up how you wear it, by changing the belt.

Just imagine, with this little ensemble, I could hop on a bike and ride to grab lunch with my daughter, and I could just as easily work, run errands, or meet a friend for happy hour.

I like to imagine I'm on a survival camping trip when I head out for my day, and try to pack everything on myself without compromising functionality and aesthetics. Belt bags fit over the waists of my skirts so well, like they were made to go together.

The belt bag is a completer piece for my women of today (said in a booming voice) design aesthetic. And I'm so so so excited to further equip you for your lives with this bag.

Still working out every detail, so nothing is set in stone. But what do you think of a Mrs. Emily bag?
