I got to turn my brain off this past weekend. I was together with some of our best friends. And we all distracted one another from the intimidating stressors of life. We existed for a weekend, in a happy little bubble. It’s a gift to be able to escape thinking. I told my daughter last week that worry is bad for your tummy. But sometimes it’s inescapable. So I feel refreshed today. Like I’ve been reset. My meter is back to non-stressed and I’m inspired to keep it there. After 3 years of grinding with this business, I want to settle into a rhythm that allows me time to plant my garden and hone my roller blading skillz. I know tomorrow I’ll write to you saying, “let’s start 78 new projects all of which need completed by next Tuesday.” But then you’ll message me questioning that decision and I’ll correct my course. What to even say. The lady who #theAMYskort 👆🏻 is named after - yes THE AMY, herself, is coming for a visit today. She is my dearest friend and was a constant encouragement as I got my creative wheels turning again 3 years ago. The amount of self-doubt in me was so so so overwhelming and she just kept telling me that I could do it. Here I am doing it. Life is play, and I want to dress for the occasion. . One of my favorite parts of being a mama is that I have a reason to play. My husband, daughter and I are always singing and dancing and using 2nd grade bathroom humor because it’s SO FUN. . I was playful before my daughter arrived, it’s just that having her around encourages playfulness at all times in all circumstances, rather than just when I’m feeling like it. Or maybe it’s that she makes me feel more like it. 🤔 . Encouraging play is a huge inspiration for me as a designer. It’s why I always tend towards t-shirt’s - because they’re washable and even disposable if fun is had and mess is made ☝🏻 . As for my skirts - color and print lifts the spirit, while the function of elastic waist and hidden shorts mean any fun activity is a go! . I finally got a good shot of my Amy Skort in black snakeskin. I’ve been wearing her a lot this winter. . In October, I figured out the light in my living room is awesome. I bought this giant plant specifically for photos in here. Now I’m able to capture what I make better than I’ve been able to before! .
